The Unopened Door

I’ve been searching my whole life,

For the one that completes my soul.

You are what I have been missing,

The part that makes me whole.

I’ve looked in the wrong places,

For all that I am to live for.

You‘ve been what I overlooked,

You are that one unopened door.

I want it to be you that keeps me,

And cherishes me my whole life through.

I want it to be you standing by my side,

Protecting me when my dreams don’t come true.

And when I lose faith in myself,

And I am no longer standing tall,

I want it to be you to wipe tears away,

And to catch me when I begin to fall.

I want it to be you I share memories with,

And that brings light to my eyes.

I want you to be the reason why I smile,

When all I can seem to do is cry.

Had I never opened the locked door,

Happiness would’ve never come to view.
