SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.

I currently have five computers involved in the SETI at Home project. Each one crunching data 24-7. I don't have the cubic dollars to have super computers but they do the job plus give my kids their needs (Ha Ha). I just figure if I am going to have them and they are going to be on they just as well be doing something productive.

As you see they all have ample amounts of memory but because this program gets low CPU priority and only uses excess CPU power. Performance is usually not degraded.
